Leaders
Our Leaders of our dog team are Leo and Bucko. Leo is from the first litter of puppies from when Bree and Paul took over the family dog team. Bucko is son of Chichi, one of Vicky Josie's dogs. These two look like twins, but if you look closely at Bucko you will notice he has very unique two tone blue and brown eyes and Leo's eyes are brown. Our team dogs are:
Our Wheel Dogs are:
How we treat and care for our team We love all our dogs. They are a part of our family. Our dogs love to pull, and if we have a puppy that doesn't, we don't make them be part of the team. Our dogs all have insulated dog houses. They are exercised daily. They come with us on the wood trail, they camp with us, and they play with us. Pulling the sled isn't their whole life. We don't run our team if it is -35 or colder. It is too tough on them in extreme cold temperatures. When the weather gets nasty, we move our dogs inside to let them stay warm. In the summer time, our dogs swim in the river, camp with us and pull a four wheeler to maintain their strength. All our pregnant females are moved inside to birth their litter indoors. Our dogs all see the vet annually for a clean bill of health and all our dogs have their vaccines. We feed our dogs a healthy diet of salmon, rice, oats, and other meats. We cook for them daily and those meals are also supplemented with Inukshuk 30/30 dog food and lots of broth and water. Rainbow Bridge: We love all of our dogs and truly miss the ones who have made their way to Rainbow Bridge. Watchem: Watchem came from Vicky Josie's Dog team. His parents were Cooper and Angel. He is a big, strong Wheel dog. We lost Watchem in 2019, he was 10 years old and had stomach cancer. Frankie: Frankie was 14 years old and was our strongest leader of our dog team. Frankie was given to us by Dougie Charlie and was leader of Dougie's dogs for many years. He is father to Leo and Luna. Frankie died of natural causes in 2019. Torino: Torino passed away in 2021 from old age. He was 17 and ran with our team until 2 weeks before he crossed the bridge. Torino will be forever remembered for his song-like howl. Dominoes: Dominoes was Torino's Brother. He was a big, strong black and brown wheel dog and had one blue eye and one brown eye. Dominoes died of Cancer in 2021.
